January 21, 2005Bush a Satanist?By Byron LaMastersWell, I am amused with the press the whole thing is getting. Apparently, the Norwegian press translated President Bush's "Hook 'em Horns" hand signal with the similar motion that is a Satanist signal in Norway. It's always amusing how different signs mean different things in different cultures. However, while I think it's great that the President is a Longhorn fan, I can't help but note that the University of Texas rejected him for Law school, so he had to settle for Harvard Business School instead. Nor is President Bush a native Texan. He was born in Connecticut, and he went to school at Yale. So, who knows? Is President Bush really a Longhorn fan after all? He might just be a Satanist. You never know... Posted by Byron LaMasters at January 21, 2005 06:41 PM | TrackBack

Well, for what it's worth, I found it comforting to know that Bush had been rejected by UT law, when I received my rejection letter last year. After all, being rejected by UT law is no measure of future success. Posted by: Jim D at January 21, 2005 09:29 PMAnd by no measure, I mean no measure. Houston's bar passage rate is 89 percent; UT's is 92. Given that represents a sample of a few hundred students at each school, you probably have to accede that those are, statistically-speaking, identical figures. Posted by: Jim D at January 21, 2005 09:31 PMJim... call me... your cell isn't working... Posted by: Byron L at January 21, 2005 09:34 PMSuch a hard life, to settle for Harvard. Lot of people would like to settle for Harvard, or go to Harvard over UT in the first place. ALGORE seemed to like it. We all know how much it helped ALGORE. How about he did it to support his daughter? Like your fathers probably supports y'all, when watching your team lose to OU at the Cotton Bowl. How do you like that whenever you do hook'em horns, you're signing evil in Norway? Do you feel good about yourselves now? Will you remember not to do that sign everytime in the future for fear of offending the Norwegians? I think you'll succumb to the peer pressure and enjoy the signing collectively. Strength in numbers and all. Forget about the Norwegians anyway. I wonder what it means in Thailand, or Viet Nam? Posted by: peter at January 21, 2005 11:38 PM> Well, thank goodness he didn't flash the sign in Italy or Greece. Althought I can certainly see it happening... Yes, Harvard did great things for AL GORE. Which allowed him to do great things for us... Posted by: Andrea M. at January 22, 2005 01:35 AMi believe bush was asked whom he supports more out of texas and texas a&m. he said that he liked them both. a true longhorn fan would not have said that nor would a true longhorn fan have the a&m band play at his inauguration. btw, petey, you seem to like ou a lot for someone who didn't go there or isn't from there (i think). do you have some trailer park heritage in you and/or do you live in a trailer park yourself? Posted by: Sal D at January 22, 2005 05:56 AMYes, Harvard did great things for AL GORE. Which allowed him to do great things for us... Seems to me Harvard did great things for our President. Which is allowing him to do great things for us. Hey Byron, lets celibrate a person who got accepted to UT Law School, attended and graduated UT Law, passed the Bar, and is working at the Dallas law firm Akin, Gump, & Straus. One of your to be famous alumni, a future President (2020, 24, 28), George P. Bush. Posted by: peter at January 22, 2005 06:25 AMSchools like UH have high bar pass rates because they "teach the bar." UT has a high bar pass rate because they teach legal concepts and the students apply them. UT-Austin Law is without a doubt the best law school in the region. In fact, it's faculty is among the best in the nation. (Ona level wiuth any Ivy League). Ironically, it is the student selectivity (much easier to get into UT than Harvard - unless your Dad is head of the CIA) that keep it from being among the truly top notch in the nation. Posted by: WhoMe? at January 22, 2005 08:59 AMHey Sal, I wouldn't be throwing that trailer park line too much. I've heard about a certain library in Little Rock being described as the world's largest doublewide. But hey Sal, we all can't live in Bellaire or Highland Park like you priviledged people do. We common folk, who supports our President, work for a living, some living paycheck to paycheck. Thats why we like those taxcuts. Believe it or not, we do feel the positive results of those taxcuts. Cut my taxes by $300 to $1000 and I'm happy. I don't worry about those who see more, good for them. Thanks "WhoMe" for giving George P. Bush's graduation much more praise. Maybe he'll build his Presidential Library at UT. That would create a Bush triangle, College Station to Baylor(maybe SMU) to UT. Posted by: peter at January 22, 2005 09:56 AMWe already have our presidential library thanks to LBJ. We don't need another one, at least not from one of the Bushes... Posted by: Byron L at January 22, 2005 10:29 AMDon't you want one from a Graduate of UT, not just SW Texas State? Posted by: peter at January 22, 2005 10:48 AMOf course, I was not intending to praise George P. Bush. I know nothing of his academic credentials, but I suspect that the Bush name had something to do with it his time around. While, I know nothing about his academic credentials, I do recall on www.smoking gun several years ago, seeing the police report where he stalked his girlfriend and drove "donuts" in her father's front yard when she would not come out to see him. The case got dropped because Daddy was the Guv. He defintetly seems to have gotten the "I'm a spoiled rich kid, so fuck you" gene. Posted by: WhoMe? at January 23, 2005 01:07 AMWhy do Democrats get away with language like 'WhoMe' above, and Republicans don't? As far as your "smoking gun", anything like that would have had to had happened before 1998, and Jeb wasn't the Governor then. Democratic Governor Lawton Chiles was in charge for the 90's before Jeb was sworn in in 1999. Your facts have been Dem'ed up some, but no spoiled rich kid thing here. New Years Eve 1994, attending Rice Univ. at the time. visiting home for Christmas, had an incident report taken. No "donuts" here except in the officers belly; No stalking either. A one time incident report. Come up with something better. Maybe Rice will get his library, sound good to you Jim D? Posted by: peter at January 23, 2005 06:30 AM
