October 19, 2004Republican Sign Stealers are Stupider than Democratic Sign StealersBy Byron LaMastersI try not to get too worked up about sign stealing, because, well it happens. Both sides do it, and it's part of the game. As for office break-in's and vandalism, that's a different story. Both sides have done it in this election, and that's another issue entirely, but this story made me laugh my ass off:

I appreciate your goal of holding both sides accountable. You write: Please link to a story of Republican office break-ins. I'm not aware of any. The Dem's have had office break-ins, burglaries, mobbing, intimidation and shootings. Jabba - You read the news you want to read. If you're a Republican and you want to believe that Democrats are thugs, you get outraged when something happens to a GOP / Bush office. If you're a Democrats and want to believe that Republicans are thugs, you get outraged when something happens to a Dem / Kerry office. It's all wrong, but if you would have done just a few minutes of google research, you would have found what I found. I remember a lot of lefty bloggers making a stink about vandalism three times at a Lafayette, Louisiana Kerry/Edwards office, and I recalled something in Michigan as well. So, after five minutes of research, here's just a few: Thieves swipe computers from Democrats' Toledo office [AP] TOLEDO, Ohio - Thieves broke into the Lucas County's Democratic Party offices, taking three computers, including one belonging to a lawyer working for John Kerry's campaign, police said Tuesday. A volunteer working for Kerry's campaign discovered the break-in Tuesday morning, said Jerry Chabler, finance chairman for the Lucas County Democratic Party. Vandals target local Democrats’ office for second time [Lafayette Daily Advertiser] Vandals set fire to signs and wrote pro-President Bush messages on the front of Lafayette’s Democratic Party Headquarters, the second time the office was hit by vandals. The remnants of a small fire fueled with John Kerry/John Edwards campaign signs remained on the front steps of the headquarters at 310 Buchanan St. in downtown Lafayette on Thursday morning. A mixture of ash from the fire and what appeared to be motor oil was used to smear “4+ GWB” across the front windows and Posted by: Byron L at October 23, 2004 01:29 AMThanks for linking some of the reports of possible Republican vandalism of Democrat Party offices. As I said, I wasn't aware of any. Of the reporting, it's 95%+ committed by the Democrats. The latest is a Florida man, who swerved his car at Congresswoman Katherine Harris and supporters. Just read about the seemingly routine intimidation and vandalism of cars with Bush bumperstickers. It's phony and misleading to simply say 'both sides do it'. The uniions organized attacks at multiple Republican HQ's through out Florida. I can't remember where I read it, but a liberal wore Bush t-shirt in liberal areas and a Kerry t-shirt in conservative areas. Guess where the most intolerance and vitriol was? Posted by: Jabba the Tutt at October 27, 2004 03:26 PMI appreciate the bipartisan approach to this issue, but...another thing we must not forget is... agent provocateurs are everywhere. Just because a Dem office is vandalized does not by default assume a Rep did it. In fact, there are ample examples of "dupes" whereby public opinion is swayed in error. Rove is a master at this. So, although I compliment the critical thinking desire and the objective values...I challenge you to reframe the issues...at least 2 or 3 more times before making your claims. This is SnyperKitty, and I'm on my roof...peace Posted by: SnyperKitty at October 30, 2004 05:00 AM
