September 10, 2003Dean / Clark or Clark / Dean?By Byron LaMastersIt just might happen. Wow. I'd be shocked, but a Clark endorsement of Dean would basically hand him the nomination. Dean would run away with it. I still doubt that it will happen, and think Clark will run, but who knows... The good thing is that Dean and Clark are friends. I would love a decent, respectful primary on the issues between Dean and Clark, and may the best man win, and the next best man be the VP. I think that both would be better for it. Question for ya'll (since I don't follow the politics of the Left as closely as the politics of the Right). Former President Clinton seems to think Wesley Clark is a Dem star. And unattributed reports have it that the Clintons aren't so hot on Dean as the potential nominee. I'm in agreement that if Dean pulled off this endorsement, it would probably give him an unbeatable boost. So the question is this: are reports of Clinton dissatisfaction with Dean overblown? Have they had a hand in this? And if Dean pulls this off and wins the nomination, is a new DNC chair forthcoming? Like I said, just curious to see what people here think. Posted by: kevin whited at September 11, 2003 01:15 PMkevin - Another report today has Clark saying to Terry McAuliffe that he is 90% sure he is running. The VP thing is most likely a leak by the Dean campaign and the press is reading WAY more into it than warranted. It was said that the two men "discussed the Vice Presidency", it doesn't say Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean. The rightwing press is spinning their wheels to avoid the inevitable - 4 star General/genius Clark running against National Guard AWOL/dumbass Bush. And it truly doesn't make sense for Clark to sign on as VP now, because he can still do that later if he runs and Dean defeats him. As for Clinton, Clark is a protege from Arkansas, it makes sense that he would back Clark, it doesn't necessarily mean Clinton is against Dean. Posted by: reef the dog at September 11, 2003 07:45 PMThank Reef the Dog... that explained a lot to me b/c unfortunatley due to my hours at work, I don't catch a lot of the news... so the above makes more sense than what little I have been catching in articles and news clips. :) Posted by: Erin at September 11, 2003 07:48 PMThanks erin. Don't be suprised at a Clark/Edwards ticket or... most entertaining ticket in the known universe... Clark/Hillary. All signs indicate Clark WILL announce his candidacy Sept. 19 in Iowa. His voice will lend a gravitas to the debates and is a Rove nightmare come true. Look for the Rove to orchestrate the dirtiest, sleazist campaign in the history of America. Let the games begin.
