Though this blog is owned and written by Democrats, our primary interest (all puns and hints intended) is covering the political scene here in the Great State of Texas, with the governor's race being one heck of a show for us as Burnt Orange Reporters. So I welcome y'all in poking around these parts, becoming regular readers if you please, and joining the conversation here. Thank you for the kind welcome. The BOR has emerged as one of the leading blogs in Texas in a very short time. Well done. You are correct that it will be "one heck of a show" in the 2006 gubernatorial election. Governor Good Hair has screwed everything up. Bell is a compelling underdog candidate. Strayhorn mixes everything up. And Kinky's just having fun with it all. Kinky believes Texans are fed up with the status quo right now. He is running a David v. Goliath campaign, and his grassroots army truly believes that it can shock the world in 2006. If Kinky does nothing else, he at least brings new voters to the polls. As the field director for this circus with a purpous, I encourage any curious voters to search through our web site and/or contact our campaign headquarters. We're building something from scratch, and we're only in the first inning of this journey. We know we have a huge mountain to climb, but we've taken the first step. www.kinkyfriedman.com Oh and another thing, this is the Burnt Orange Report and we all agree that the Texas Longhorns are the best college football team in the country. USC sucks. OU is going down this year. And we're going to organize the biggest road trip in UT history for the Ohio State game. Hook 'em! Wait a minute, you are forgetting about the real first democratic candidate to announce his intentions on running for Texas Governor: Felix Alvarado. He made his announcement to run for Texas Governor June 25, 2005.
