It looks like a vanity campaign that will probably provide a bit of comic relief, but as far as serious candidates are concerned, he's not among them. Kuff has more. Byron... Being a "serious" candidate is more a matter of perception than reality. Friedman seems to be taking this seriously; shouldn't we at least be affording him the same courtesy? If his platform and his plans turn out to be something we cannot support, so be it. Let's not write him off before he has a chance to state his case. Besides, is there a viable Democratic alternative out there? All I hear is silence. I don't know if Friedman will turn out to be a candidate we can get behind. Yes, his may seem a "vanity" campaign. Keep in mind, though, that people said the same thing about Jesse Ventura in Minnesota and Arnold Schwarzenegger in California. How about we give Friedman a fair hearing? Or are we that resigned to four more years of Governor Goodhair? Posted by: Jack Cluth at February 3, 2005 08:54 AMI have known Kinky literally my entire life, not just as a writer, or an entertainer, but as a close friend, and a man who has always believed in me. So naturally I will support him just as he has done for me for so many years. Having spent a good ammount of time out at his ranch, and many afernoons at various resturants around Texas, I can assure those that may think it a joke, that it's not. He wants to make Texas a better place for everyone, and to instil Texans with a pride that I myself even feel has been forgotten. Kinky may have once been vain, but never would he bring shame to the state that he loves so dearly. Even in my own life do I find myself shutting out ideas that are new and unrefined, and people are always resistant to change, but sometimes change is more than just a good thing. After all was it not a new idea, and a bold outgoing man that was once told he would fail, the reason we live in this place today? At times new ideas are the better part, of a greater way of life.
