November 11, 2004Ron Wilson To Represent Heflin?By Andrew DobbsJust got word from a top notch source that Ron Wilson has offered his legal services to Talmadge Heflin in the event of an election contest, pro bono. One Craddick lieutenant sticking up for another, how sweet. And a lot of you talk about how the Republicans would be stupid to bring this election up in front of the House, that it would screw over their position in the Asian American community, that it would blow up the body and prevent any real legislation from occurring, etc. And you all are right. But the only reason this will be true is because we are bringing attention to this effort and they can't get away with it now. Keep spreading the word, posting on this, getting ready to spring into action the moment a contest is filed. We can ensure justice is done if we keep our eye on the ball. Thanks for keeping up with all of this guys, it isn't over yet... Posted by Andrew Dobbs at November 11, 2004 01:23 PM | TrackBack

Interesting. As a member of the Asian community, we say bring on a second election. With all the attention Hubert Vo is getting here in Houston, across the state, and even nationally, we are certain we can bring even more of our folks to the polls a second time. In fact, we're already out registering voters in case we get a second chance. I hope Craddick is dumb enough to take the bait. We will make lifetime Democrats out of a bunch of Asians who usually vote Republican. Look at the district. There's only one precinct -- 772 -- that even kept Heflin in the race. If Craddick were smart, he'd give this up. But we're counting on him being dumb. Posted by: nguyen at November 11, 2004 02:01 PMGood to hear.... in case Ron Wilson tries a comeback bid as a Democrat, this is certainly something that we could use against him. Heflin and Wilson... they deserve each other... Posted by: Byron L at November 11, 2004 02:36 PMThis is pretty stupid on the Republican's part. Obviously they're ignoring the projections from the Texas State Data Center. Between now and 2040 Asians will number about 1,000,000 in Harris County alone. Statewide that number will be a little over 4 million. Posted by: Jacob M. at November 11, 2004 08:30 PMStop the Unlawful Recounts! If (Republicans') threatened recounts are allowed to proceed, (Vo) will suffer irreparable injury. If an unlawful recount occurs, and a changed result happens to occur (however unlikely), that tainted result will be broadcast to the (state). Any subsequent invalidation by this Court will not be able to cure the serious damage to the legitimacy of the (congressional) election. Any such taint, and the perception of multiple reversals in outcome, will interfere with the orderly transition of constitutional government. Posted by: melior at November 11, 2004 09:31 PM
