October 06, 2004Why Stupid Online Polls MatterBy Byron LaMastersBecause in the past twenty minutes or so, MSNBC has repeated about three times that 59% of their over 2+ million online voters thought that John Edwards won. Totally unscientific, yes. But having everyone repeat over and over that their viewers thought Edwards won is a good coup in the spin department. More talk without action. Clicking is cheap. Enjoy the temporary euphoria. Your guys word is not his bond. Nothing he says seems to be important to you, just that he's not Bush. Well thats deep. I've been able to convert several people just from Kerry's performance. With JE last night, it only gets easier. Edwards was sooo memorable, our Vice President couldn't even recall ever meeting him. Just think about that. Cheney's not a digbat. He remembers many things, and Edwards wasn't memorable. Looking back at ya Posted by: peter at October 6, 2004 03:29 PMSenile people remember many things, it doesn't mean they remember correctly. Maybe he doesn't remember Edwards because Cheney was actually only presided over the Senate twice in the past 4 years on the Tuesdays he claims to be there. We have photographic evidence they have indeed met before. And I think it says more about his leadership that he hasn't met all the Senators. I imagine Cheney arrives at the Senate, talks mostly to republicans, and leaves. Why would he feel the need to talk to the democrats? It doesn't seem like his style. Further, if Cheney's memory is so clear, how come he never remembered saying Iraq was connected to 9/11? He's the main reason many Americans still think that is true. Posted by: Jason Young at October 6, 2004 04:19 PMWhat exactly is a digbat? And who can really be sure that Cheney's not a digbat? Posted by: Charlotte 2 at October 6, 2004 07:15 PMI like your blog. Just btw, MSNBC didn't actually say "Edwards won". They worked very hard to avoid saying that. As a part of hangover recovery, I was watching this morning/afternoon, and I blogged it at my place - check it out if you like! http://punditician.blogspot.com/2004/10/media-refuses-to-say-words-edwards-won.html keep on truckin, Chris Yes... the dozen or so people who watch MSNBC were undoubtedly highly impressed. You guys aren't even pretending any more, eh? Principles and facts be damned, full speed ahead on the spin machine! Posted by: Chris Elam at October 7, 2004 02:15 AM
