October 05, 2004Voter Registration Deadline PassesBy Byron LaMastersBut not before the Travis County Democratic coordinated campaign registered 12,424 voters yesterday alone. Over in Houston, the Harris County Democratic Party's Sharpstown office registered over 2500 in their voter registration drive. Good job everyone! Update: My father just sent me this New York Times article on how he thinks we managed to do so well with voter registration here in Travis County:

In 2000, the one day registration total on the last day was around 4300, and that was the highest ever at that point. In addition, the University Democrats West Mall table and University Co-op location until midnight provided an estimated 3000-4000 of that 12,424 according to those in the office last night. That bring the UDems total for the semester to between 7000-8000 registered students. We literally registered people at midnight. Posted by: Karl-T at October 5, 2004 05:32 PM
