A lot of people like to talk about the "core values' of the Democratic Party; Eliot Spitzer embodies those values.
Decency, fairness, integrity, and a willingness to stand up for the average citizen, that's Eliot Spitzer in a nutshell. The fact that he's not a rigid ideologue also makes him appealing. He would give Giuliani a run for his money if the latter ran for governor in 2006.
To see him on a national ticket in 2004, let's all hope for a Wesley Clark nomination.
:P
Spitzer could be a great candidate for governor of NY (stepping stone to the presidency?) but I would also like to see him considered for Attorney General or chair of the SEC in a new administration. I don't see him as VP material at this stage of his career.
Posted by Luis at December 4, 2003 11:32 AMThe VP candidate will be Edwards, gives a good North/South balance, very photogenic, and an excellent speaker, and has wads of cash of his own and access to trial lawyers. What could be better--a doctor and a med-mal lawyer together.

Well, the thing about Spitzer, according to CNN, is that he has set his sights on running for governor of New York. And bless him for that.
Posted by Jim D at December 4, 2003 01:30 PMI like what he's done prosecuting financial crimes, but I am wary of the man. He strikes me more as a Mike Bloomberg kind of "New Democrat."
Plus, a favorable write-up in the closet-con mag New Republic doesn't assuage my fears.
