This is worst choice I could think of. What are the rules governing how long this yahoo actually has power. As in, will the delegates at the 2004 State Convention be able to choose someone else?

I'm willing to give Soechting a chance, but I am very disappointed at our SDEC members who, despite overwhelming input from their constituents, decided to give them all the finger and vote for Soechting. Yes we can elect a new chair at the Convention, and if were going to, we're going to need to get started by February at the latest. It's my understanding that Mauro may be in the running for Chair through the Convention.

Since I cannot sleep, I'll try to make myself tried by commenting on this. So excuse any over generalizations, misspellings, or just bad grammar, its 5:30 am.

I will agree with Dave that we do need to give Soecthing a chance. Maybe he has what it takes to change the party, but I am also disappointed that we did not select someone who was not part of the "establishment" and further my disappointment of the lack of competition. I do want to see what Mr. Soechting can bring. What I am looking for out of this chair are three things when I make my decision to support him in June 04:

1) An improved way the party uses technology, by either updating voting list to having a better website with issues and democratic solutions on it. Also, have a plan to help out the 10 largest counties in texas with technology upgrades and GOTV plans. The idea ranges from giving them free webspace to save the local parties money (unless they already get it free) to having updated data for the pct. chairs to try and walk their areas.

2) Some type of Black/Hispanic/South Texas Strategy to: 1) get south Texas and minorities to vote, and 2) have them vote democrat. One thing that I’ve noticed out of the GOP is that they have a bunch of propaganda that they can give to Hispanics that makes it sound that they are the party for them. We hispanics-chicano-tejano-latinos are supposed to be majority in a couple of years, so which party is not only going to woo the minorites but provide results or provide soild evidence of our failures was because of the GOP. I think we need some type of good strategy to educate the minorities of Texas on the issues and what we have done, because a mutli million dollar Hispanic doesn't do the trick.

3) A youth incentive project to bring young from high school and college level to: get educated about the political system and about the Democratic Party. I think Soechting needs to push TYD or create something to bring young people into the party. I was disappointed to see that over 60% of students support Bush, did they only interview students at SMU and TCU, and at every conservative college? I know that TYD is (lack of better words and descriptions) short on resources...Some ideas that I have is that the party could create a Youth GOTV plan that would give us the resources and us try to initiate that plan. Or maybe do some Youth GOTV projects, youth town hall meetings on college campuses or like a state wide bus voter reg drive. I do want to see what he has in mind for the future of this party.

Here are some solutions I have:

1) Start the Draft Boyles campaign. If we really want someone hip and new, maybe we could convince her to do it.

2) Elect an El Pasoan. Hey, we're doing something right over here 500 miles away, but that's usually my solution to everything. (That was for a small laugh btw, not really serious)

3) {well, this is my personal soultion) move to New Mexico or some other demo state :O)

Blah, going to sleep

boyles was in it and dropped out. boyles and mauro are part of the same group -- thats the good news. the bad news is that molly beth and soechting are in the same group, the group that has given us 0-32 in statewide elections. makes me kinda mad . . .
