Taking that exact same tack, perhaps Cheney lied about meeting, or perhaps Cheney was simply mistaken. Edwards surely didn't bother to correct him, so maybe he couldn't think of a time he met Cheney either. The point is that Edwards was rarely in his committee meetings, and was known in his home state as Senator Gone.

And lets continue: please notice that none of these encounters were at work in the Senate! A TV show, a prayer breakfast, a swearing in. Not on the floor of the Senate!
