Comments: Holy Shit! The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!

Here's the rule for getting the DMN endorsement as a Democratic challenger.
1. Run for a nominally partisan but largely technical job.
2. Be so painfully overqualified for the job that it is impossible for the DMN to ignore that fact. Run against someone so painfully and unrepentantly incompetent that it is impossible for the DMN to ignore that fact as well.
3. Run such a nonexistent and lackluster campaign that the DMN won't perceive you as a threat (i.e. a Democrat who can actually win).
Follow these three easy steps and you too can be a Democratic challenger endorsed by the Dallas Morning News.

Can anyone explain why tax assessor-collector is an elected position?

This AP headline should bring a smile to your face.

Belo to cut 250 jobs, mostly at Dallas Morning News

Um, I'm sorry Chris, but headlines of job cuts don't bring a smile to my face, whether they are in Ohio or Texas. Maybe I don't take your joy in seeing that.

Karl, I don't believe that. I'm betting you'd dance a little jig if Tom DeLay became politically impotent and hundreds of GOP operatives found themselves out of a job. =)
