Comments: Activist Judges? Not Really

How ironic. It was activist judges that put George in the White House in the first place.

It seems "activist judge" is the term that gets thrown around when a judge does something you didn't want him or her to do. BULLOCKS to that.

John Cornyn's diatribes against "activist judges" are exceptionally good examples of the hypocricy of which Republicans are capable and which they are unable to avoid. As a justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Cornyn participated in majority decisions that drastically changed Texas common law to benefit corporate and corporate related litigants. He was in fact an activitist judge. Cornyn's substantive position on abortions and gay marriages are equally hypocritical. He believes in limited government, but he has no problem inserting government into such closely and intrinsically private matters. I think Democrats, and moderate Republicans, need to press Cornyn hard on these issues. He has no defense to make to his past as an activist judge, and no really good way to defend his contrary positions on big, intrusive government. Unless, that is, he wants to plead insanity or a debilitating mental condition, either then or now.
