April 13, 2005Pearland Council Member Kevin Cole a Real JerkBy Andrew DobbsIf you haven't seen Drop the Hammer, you really should. Judd Legum is doing a helluva job taking on Tom DeLay and he has some really great info there. Unfortunately some of the pro-DeLay forces have started slithering their way into his email box. One in particular was pretty entertaining, and he emailed it around to some of us:
Kevin Cole is a real jackass it seems- barely literate and just a little too big a fan of the most corrupt politician in America today. He also happens to sit on the City Council of Pearland, a city whose name he is unable to spell. He is also a deacon in his church, which might have issues with his threatening violence, using profanity and sticking up for a well-known criminal. I just thought that "Hon." Kevin Cole's constituents might get a kick out of knowing that they elected an illiterate bottom feeder to their illustrious city council. Stick up for DeLay, and we'll show you no quarter round these parts. Posted by Andrew Dobbs at April 13, 2005 01:32 PM | TrackBack

Could someone please make sure this gets forwarded to his church? Posted by: comeon at April 13, 2005 02:07 PM

"" Posted by: matth at April 13, 2005 03:43 PMOddly, Cole is not listed on the Pearland city Web site; however he is listed as being a Pearland city council member on the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Pearland page. Weird. I always am a little hesitant to post e-mails, because you never know if they are authentic. Nonetheless... wow, this is just embarassing for that guy. Posted by: Jim D at April 13, 2005 03:45 PMhttp://www.h-gac.com/HGAC/About+H-GAC/Regional_Directory/Cities.htm?regdir_type=City&id=91 Also, if Google is presenting us with the right fellow (could be a relative though), then Mr. Cole got into hot water in 2000 w/ regard to some muni campaign finance violation allegations. Posted by: Jim D at April 13, 2005 03:49 PMI am shocked at the level of credibility the public is giving blogs these days. This instance will go down as the moment we realized not all blogs are accurate. Case in point, I'm leaving my name as President George W. Bush. Who the HELL would post their name AND CELL PHONE NUMBER ("retracted"), if they were indeed a City Council Member and Baptist Deacon. You're either stupid, or not who you claim to be. Please people. Until there's some IT gurus checking IP addresses, give the guy the benefit of doubt... Posted by: President George W. Bush at April 13, 2005 06:59 PMI'm going with stupid. but your right it should be checked out, i sort of assumed it was before it was posted, that would be the responsible thing to do, if it wasn't, then shame on all of us. I'm still going with stupid. Posted by: comeon at April 14, 2005 09:45 AMas far as Kevin Coles spelling. I have found that Capn' Morgan doesn't care about spelling at 2:00am tom Posted by: tom madrzykowski at April 17, 2005 02:22 AMKevin Cole is the archetypal Republican. He has: Nobody should be TOO surprised at his behavior. Posted by: Tim Z. at April 17, 2005 05:51 AMWow... should I jump on the bandwagon too? It makes me feel much better about this whole DeLay dillema. I love politics and enjoy readings from the opposition, but Andrew... please... write something insightful about what makes DeLay different from any other politician inside the belt. And please tell me what the real big deal is with accepting a round of golf on some island. Corruption might be the downfall of this country, but its not going to start or stop with Delay being a lush. Stop playing baby goo goo politics. Posted by: Stanton at April 20, 2005 12:55 PM
