November 18, 2004Gay Hysteria in East TexasBy Byron LaMastersBecause obviously, if on one day a year boys and girls reverse social roles where girls get to invite boys on dates, open doors and pay for sodas, the obvious next step is homosexuality and drug abuse, right? Read the article. Update: I got the story via email. Pandagon has more on it as well. Posted by Byron LaMasters at November 18, 2004 08:32 AM | TrackBack

This may sound alarmist, but I see parallels as to what happened in the 1930s in Central Europe with Jews and what is happening with gays in 2000s America. Jews is Germany were not hauled off to concenration camps overnight. It took years of incremental steps of discrimination and dehumanization to make Germans "accepting" of the ideas of the Wansee Solution. (Remember, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said that G-d punished NYC with 9-11 because of its acceptance of gays - there are millions of Americans who beleive the same but are not as bold enough to say that). All decent people within 150 miles of this town should be decending on this Texas town and get them to reverse this policy. Posted by: WhoMe? at November 18, 2004 09:23 AMI understand that this might be objectionable, but the basis is all wrong. It'd be one thing if the parents said it was "tacky" or something like that. But they're saying it's a gay indoctrination thing. Which doesn't make sense, frankly. The fact they're going out of their way to paint it as a gay thing scares me more than the fact that they'd be against boys dressing in drag. Posted by: Jim D at November 18, 2004 12:45 PMMan, I wonder what kind of right wing hysteria they went through during Halloween? I'm glad that their is finally an organization that uses their time and money to shed light on other gender-endangered questions like Bert and Ernie's domestic partnership and the hereditary link between the Coors Light twins. Is this school district also removing all rainbows from elementary schools as well? Thank God no God-fearing Republican would ever try such a prank, especially not one that is close to President W (insert Mayor Rudy in his dragfit picture here). The group objecting has "liberty" in their name? Damn Proud to be a Democrat. Posted by: Red Dog at November 18, 2004 02:03 PMThe gays are more devious than we ever suspected. They started this way back during the last century. They did it when I was in school, only we called it Sadie Hawkins day back in Arkansas in the 1950's. We never suspected its real objective. We just thought that it was a fun day at school. We were such fools! Posted by: Laurence at November 18, 2004 07:40 PMAnd they're getting them earlier these days, with Teletubbies! Who could forget Tinky Winky, the scandalous gay purple teletubby with the pink triangle shaped bag? Posted by: Andrea H. at November 18, 2004 11:52 PMGood Lord, If we don't stop it now, the school boys of Texas will be parading out in fields in Friday nights under bright lights for all to see in tight pants grabbing at each other and rubbing up against each other as they tackle each other to the ground. G-d Forbid!!! Posted by: WhoMe? at November 19, 2004 12:31 AMThis is just more proof that the recent election was a victory for those who cannot accept or understand reality and a loss for those of us who actually have a clue. I mean, every Baptist church from here to Amarillo is loaded with ignorant redneck moms and dads who are scared to death about homosexuality, and who voted for GW to keep their kids straight. God help them. Posted by: Dennis at November 19, 2004 05:38 AMI just find it fascinating that the replacement is Camo and Black Boot Day. Posted by: Robin at November 19, 2004 04:14 PM |
