Brad Carson for US Senate

By Byron LaMasters

With Nickels retirement, Brad Carson would give us a great chance for a pick up. Its good news for Democratic chances of taking back the US Senate (something that I still think is unlikely, but not impossible).

It is likely Byron that we have a shot at OK, if Watts doesn't get in the race. Watts wants to make money right now, I think he'll wait for Inhofe to retire. I met Brad when he came to Dallas for a fundraiser. The guy understands grassroots politics. He connects with working class people. Folks that have left the Democratic Party again. He can possibly beat a Republican from the blue-blooded Warr Acres area of Oklahoma. It will be a close race if either Carson or AG Drew Edmundson get in the race.

Democrats definitely have a chance in Oklahoma. Brad Carson would make an excellent candidate for this seat.A Rhodes scholar, he is the only Native American tribal member of the U.S. House. Mr. Carson would provide a strong voice for rural interests. In a time when Republican-led redistricting and natural demographic changes are shifting political power to the suburbs, Democrats must strive to be the party that speaks for rural America.
Carson would undoubtedly be a strong contender for the seat. In 2002, an obscure state senator named Brad Henry defeated popular Congressman and ex-football star Steve Largent in the race for governor. Oklahomans have shown they can support reasonable, centrist Democratic candidates. When will Texas do the same?
