Sen. Hutchison: Hypocrite

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Sat Apr 15, 2006 at 07:27 PM CDT

Thanks to Annatopia for reminding us of this one. Elected as part of the 1994 class of senators, some of whom promised to only serve 2 terms (a la Bill Frist), Sen. Hutchison is most certainly running for re-election this year, in violation of her pledge to only serve 2 terms.

"I've always said that I would serve no more than two full terms. This may be my last term or I could run for one more. But no more after that. I firmly believe in term limitations and I plan to adhere to that," Hutchison said.

--1994, Austin American Statesman

But wait, there's more!

What's even better? Sen. Hutchison was co-sponsor of the Constitutional Amendment for term-limits in 1995.

But wait, there's more!

Sen. Hutchison co-sponsored another Constitutional Amendment bill on term-limits in 1997!

Sen. Hutchison: Part of the Broken Contract with America

Well... (5.00 / 2)
Let's hope De Lay doesn't change his mind the way she did.

Hypocrite is a good word for someone who says over and over she will not run for another term. And then runs for another term.

Reality is she planned on running for governor and was afraid of losing to Perry in a primary. Reality is she might not have. We will never know.

If one thing may really work to Radnofsky's advantage, this may. Along with the growing dissatisfaction among  moderate Republicans with Hutchison's  support for the Bush Administration's policies which are slowly destroying our nation's morale along with the economy.  As gas prices go up, no doubt his popularity will continue to go down. Along with the popularity of every member of Congress who supported the policies that have resulted in our nation heading for economic disaster.

Hutchison may enjoy good poll percentages. But poll percentages don't mean anything unless the votes are behind them. I suspect in Hutchison's case the poll percentages have been so high because there hasn't been a real challenger. Now there is a real challenger.

Many of her public statements while in Congress reflect the hypocrisy behind her decision to seek a third term.

She is truly out of touch with most Texans.  And has been from day one.

I'm tired of people saying this is a Republican state.  It is until the Democratic voters realize their votes do count and turn out at the polls finally.

Broken contracts (0.00 / 0)
Since when do politicians keep their promises and contracts? Newt's Contract with America was never fulfilled one little bit. It was a ploy to win Congress and it worked.

I also dont think we're going to win her seat by pointing out she is a hypocrit when you can point out the same thing with other Democrats who have been in the Senate and House for ages that have also supported term limits.
